The morning of Day 2 was uneventful until the coffee spill.
I got up around 6 after getting a nice 7 hours of sleep. The ship was rocking due to the high winds and 12’ seas but I slept very well. I left the cabin about 6:20 to do some bible reading and vacation blogging. I had a cup of coffee but it was noisy. I can’t believe how much noise people over 60 can make. And the Windjammer was full of them. Who else would get up that early.
I went back to the room and Sue was sitting up in bed doing her daily readings. I asked if she wanted coffee and she said yes. So I went to the Cafe Promenade on Deck 5 to get 2 coffees and a banana. I also decided to grab an oat bran muffin.
I carried the 2 coffees in each hand and in between held a dish with the banana and the muffin. When I got to the cabin, my hands were occupied so I tried banging the door with my head. Despite the obvious hardness of my head, Sue could not hear me head banging so I attempted to put the coffees down to free up a hand. It didn’t work. One of the coffees, tipped over and in the process of trying to stop it from falling, well, let’s just say coffee came spilling out. It landed all over my shirt and burned my left wrist. Thankfully, Sue had brought some ointment and after applying it to my wrist it soothed it and eventually stopped hurting and the skin color returned to normal.
This is not something to be attempted again.
Gerry & I became aware of noisy seniors at Walden Pond!
